While in Hampton, we suggest that you spend some time exploring the area. There are several city parks, a 20-mile bike path where you can walk or ride through farmland and woods on the old railroad easement. Near Hampton are park lands and wooded wildlife conservation areas along meandering rivers where you can get in touch with nature. About 35 miles north of Hampton is Mason City, the home of Meredith Wilson, and his inspiration for the famous Broadway play, "The Music Man". Music Man Square is an interesting tourist spot in Mason City.
Beeds Lake State Park

Hampton Historical District
Much of historical downtown Hampton is still intact. The town has a city park with a band stand shell across the street from the beautiful historic courthouse. Surrounding the courthouse are several specialty shops in the square. It is a charming example of a Victorian era Midwestern town. Within a block of the Hampton Historical jail is the Courthouse, Civil War Memorial Hall, the historic (and haunted) Windsor Theater, the old United Methodist Church, historic Main Street and other historical buildings.
